iTunes hit for Kiwi singer

25 Jul 2008

Kiwi singer Brooke Fraser is proving a hit in the US with her latest album gaining a spot on the iTunes editors’ choice and the top ten charts.

Since its US release in May, Albertine has sold in excess of 16,000 copies and has reached number 90 on the Billboard 200.

As well as receiving mainstream acclaim, Fraser’s soul-searching lyrics are striking chords in the US Christian music market with the album hitting fourth on the Christian charts earlier this month.

Fraser is set for a six-week tour of the southern States beginning in August.

Multi-platinum albums
Since the release of her debut album in 2003, singer/songwriter Brooke Fraser has become a household name as one of New Zealand’s foremost musical talents.

Hailing from the capital city Wellington, the 24-year-old daughter of former All Black Bernie Fraser began performing at an early age. She has strong connections with the Christian music scene.

Her two multi-platinum albums, What to do with Daylight and Albertine both debuted at number one in New Zealand.

World Vision
The singer is also heavily involved with World Vision and has represented the organisation in Cambodia and Africa.

These humanitarian convictions heavily influence Brooke Fraser’s soulful pop music which critics say is sure to stand the test of time.
