Calling all 100% eligible Kiwi bachelors

19 May 2009

New Zealand’s 100 percent purely eligible men are being asked to put their best foot forward in a Tourism New Zealand bid to find the next star for the American TV show ‘The Bachelor’.

After the hugely successful filming of the show’s latest series in New Zealand, Tourism New Zealand wants to show that as well as proving the country is the most romantic, picturesque and friendly place in the world, it is also home to the sexiest, most manly, charming men.

Hunt for new Bachelor
The Bachelor is currently calling for applications for the show’s next Bachelor and Tourism New Zealand is suggesting all eligible Kiwi bachelors should apply by registering at Warner Bros. 'The Bachelor' website.

Candidates based in New Zealand or internationally can put their own names forward or be nominated by another party as well as suggesting other eligible Kiwi blokes.

Wooing US women
Comments posted on Tourism New Zealand’s Kiwi Bachelor face book page are even providing men with some tips to charm US women.

Impressing women with a knowledge of sport was seen as a good ploy and American women would love listening to the Kiwi accent, according to the post.

It was also a good idea to talk about Tui beer and Lion Red because US women would think men were referring to a type of furry New Zealand animal, the post read.

'Awesome' comments
And a US male viewer has advised Kiwi men interested in The Bachelor job to find everything the show’s female talent say as "awesome" even if it wasn’t clear what they were talking about. "Hey Hollywood is around the corner so don’t hold back in showing off what you have," he said.

New Zealand showed off "what it has" to 15 million US viewers who tuned in to the 13th season of The Bachelor show to see Jason Mesnick not only fall in love with his Bachelorette but also New Zealand during the filming earlier this year.

Mesnick said he fell in love with New Zealand while shooting episodes in Queenstown and the Bay of Islands.

"I've done a lot of travelling in my life," Mesnick said. "But honestly New Zealand is the most beautiful place I have ever been."

Romantic locations
Jason wooed his final three 'bachelorettes' at romantic locations on the shores of Lake Wakatipu overlooked by the Southern Alps in picturesque Queenstown.

Filming then moved to the Bay of Islands in the far north for a dramatic final episode where Jason took his final two dates for a picnic on an iconic pink shell beach, and played golf at a course overlooking the Pacific Ocean before making his final choice and proposing to Melissa.
