Hop on board for a real Kiwi eco experience

Eco-conscious travellers can now sign up to help keep New Zealand beautiful on a new hop-on hop-off green bus adventure
Kiwi Experience - New Zealand’s legendary ‘green’ bus adventure network - has just introduced a multi-day eco-adventure for travellers who’re prepared to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty on a very personal discovery of the South Island’s spectacular West Coast region.
Called ‘Green not Mean’, the Conservation Volunteers project is based at Punakaiki - an iconic coastal landscape in the northern part of Westland - and runs for either four or six days.
The programme of tree planting, seed collection, and removing pesky exotic weeds will help create an ecological corridor spanning from the majestic Southern Alps to the rugged west coast beaches.
Up close and personal
'Green not Mean' offers a great way to experience the beauty of New Zealand’s environment up close and personal, according to Kiwi Experience Brand Manager Liz Lindsay.
"It’s also a terrific way to make new friends while creating some incredible memories, and help restore a part of our West Coast paradise," Lindsay said.
Iconic coastal landscape
Perched on the edge of the Southern Alps, Punakaiki encompasses spectacular limestone landscapes, river gorges, caves, coastal and inland walks, and the world renowned Pancake Rocks and blowholes.
The coastline is the natural habitat of the little blue penguin and the only nesting ground of the Westland black petrel. The surrounding rain forests are full of native nikau palms and ancient rata trees.
Kiwi Experience travellers, who want to be part of restoring this precious environment, can add in the ‘Green not Mean’ package which covers accommodation, meals and transfers.
Conservation Volunteers is a non-profit organisation that recruits and manages teams of volunteers from New Zealand, Australia and around the world to work on important environmental and wildlife conservation projects.
