Bungy - No Trudging

The best-known bungy jumping is in Queenstown, but there are thrills to be had in the North Island. A bungy with a difference drops the brave towards the Rangitikei River, strings attached of course, surrounded by sheer cliffs and lush native bush. The jump is 80m (250ft), which is the highest jump in the North Island. Instead of trudging back up for another shot, if you're keen, jumpers can ride the world's only water-powered, counter-balanced lift back up to the bridge. A new thrill on offer is New Zealand's highest night bungy - in which adrenaline-junkies attached to elastic hurl themselves off the Mokai bridge into the beautifully lit canyon below.
