The Lost World of Waitomo
They call it the Lost World Epic - a seven-hour adventure exploring New Zealand’s 'underworld'.
It’s not as sinister as it sounds, but it is dramatic - New Zealand’s biggest caving abseil, a drop of 100 metres into 'the Lost World'.
Deep under the farmland of Waitomo is another world of spectacular caves and passages, which hold plenty of surprises.
The descent into the Lost World takes about 15 minutes - once down, you embark on a journey back to the surface through cathedral-sized vaults, past waterfalls and stalactites.
There are also black water rafting adventures through Waitomo’s famous caves, floating and swimming under a roof lit by millions of glow-worms.
