Hokitika Wildfoods Festival
The Hokitika Wildfoods Festival in the South Island is the quirkiest food festival on the New Zealand culinary calendar. It has been held every March since 1990 and celebrates the West Coast’s unique lifestyle, food and hospitality.
The emphasis is on novel, tasty and healthy wildfood and includes such treats as possum stew, wild boar, various local insects, as well as locally brewed ales.
