Southern Stars

With New Zealand becoming the destination for several Hollywood films over recent years (the best known being The Lord of the Rings trilogy by kiwi director Peter Jackson), more and more film stars and international directors have stayed Down Under than ever before. Word has spread about the location, and New Zealand-born Russell Crowe even felt the accommodation was up to his superstar status, by gracing Blanket Bay with his presence. Huka Lodge - consistently rated one of the world’s top lodges - plays regular host to big name movie stars, and guests have included Bill Gates, Kate Winslet, Robin Williams, Michael J Fox and Barbra Streisand, as well as royals including Queen Elizabeth II, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, and HRH The Prince Edward. A little-known suburban villa on Auckland’s North Shore, Stafford Villa, has received positive comments from actresses Joan Collins and Seeta Indrani, while actors Catherine Oxenberg and husband Casper van Dien also speak highly of it and its host, after staying there in 2001.
