New Zealand sports academy

Renowned for our place in international rugby, New Zealand is leading the way in providing the only professional, cross-cultural and fully integrated rugby development and career training experience of its kind in the world.

The New Zealand Sports Academy offers a unique opportunity for international rugby players and coaches to develop their rugby skills within a Maori focused environment.

The Academy seeks to champion the principles of success and to promote the flamboyance of Maori flair through rugby development exchanges where international students train and play alongside 35 handpicked young, talented Maori rugby players from around New Zealand.

The intensive rugby regimes are conducted by world class coaches and trainers such as, Matt Te Pou, (Maori All Black Coach), Frano Botica (All Black, Maori All Black) and Hika Reid (All Black and Maori All Black).

Maori cultural experiences including taking part in a traditional powhiri (or welcome), cooking and eating from an authentic hangi (or earth oven), learning waiata and haka (song and war dance) and experiencing Maori manaakitanga (hospitality) and tourism activities are all part of the enjoyment.
