Pushing the boundaries
As a performing and recording artist, Moana Maniapoto has consistently pushed the boundaries of Maori music with her unique blend of traditional Maori musical elements and contemporary western grooves. Moana's lyrics reflect the Maori spiritual, cultural and political reality. Moana and the Moahunters have toured extensively through Europe and North America and cemented their reputation as one of the most successful indigenous bands to emerge from Aotearoa. Moana's latest album "Moana and the Tribe" includes her track "Te Kakano" which Tourism New Zealand is now using in offshore promotions.
