The Suter Te Aratoi o Whakatu is the public art museum for Nelson and the surrounding region. Opened in 1899, the Suter houses a permanent collection featuring works by New Zealand historical and contemporary artists. There is a focus on artists who have worked in the region.
Activities include four changing exhibition spaces, a craft shop, a cafe and a cinema/theatre. The Suter is open every day (except Christmas day) from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
