Ulva Island – Birds & Forest: our most popular trip in a predator-free sanctuary, set in Gondwanaland forest. Spend 4 hours or 8 hours listening to birdsong and viewing endemic and threatened New Zealand and Stewart Island species at close quarters: saddleback, yellowhead, rifleman, robin, red and yellow-crowned parakeets, kaka, wood pigeon, weka, bellbird, tui, grey warbler, fantail, tomtit with occasional penguins at sea. Learn about our unique fauna and flora from Furhana your local guide. Kiwi Journey: follow in the footsteps of kiwi, watch them in the wild, enjoy an occasional daytime sighting, learn about their behaviour and habitat. Robin, fernbird, Southern New Zealand dotterel and other species may be seen.
Stewart Island does not have scheduled passenger air services.
The nearest airport is in Invercargill (85 minutes)
