Personally guided tours of the historic Tokarahi Homestead, built in 1878 for Mr A. McMaster, the owner of the Tokarahi Estate. The homestead is listed with the N.Z. Historic Places Trust and judged one of N.Z’s “Top 100 Homes” in 2001. Be greeted by a guide in Victorian attire, discover the stories and experience the restored grandeur of living in one of the homesteads of the early N.Z colonial estates. The front of the homestead was added in 1891, as a wedding present and the entrance hall boasts original Japanese "embossed imitation leather wallpaper". Enjoy a “Devonshire Tea” in the formal Victorian dining room or in the relaxed atmosphere of the elegant drawing room.
