Motuihe Island Restoration and Conservation
Motuihe is a recreation reserve being restored to pre-European bush. You can join in the restoration project by helping with tree planting, seed gathering, weeding or nursery work.

A short ferry ride takes you to Motuihe for the day. The ferry costs approximately $10 return and volunteers receive a BBQ lunch and tea/coffee. Bring water, sunblock and strong shoes. In winter warm clothing is advisable.

- learn about native New Zealand forest
- see Maori and European history sites
- visit the best sandy beaches
- relax and walk around the island
