Kiwi Wilderness Walks
Foreshore Drive,
Halfmoon Bay,
Stewart Island/rakiura
Picture yourself in the southern-most island of New Zealand, wandering under a stadium of stars to try your luck at native kiwi spotting. Stewart Island offers the best chance most people will ever have to see New Zealand's national bird in its natural environment. Starting in Riverton or Invercargill, travel to Mason Bay for a breathtaking beach walk. Then, walk coast to coast across the island through scrub covered sand dunes and head high tussock to Freshwater Landing.
A reasonable level of fitness is required and some previous tramping experience is recommended. Our guides are dedicated to your safety and satisfaction.
