Richmond is an assessed garden of international significance. It is a formal Italianate garden situated in Carterton, Wairarapa, approximately an hour north of Wellington.
Richmond Garden covers around six acres and is divided into formal garden “rooms”. It is unique to the southern hemisphere. A large bronze fountain placed in a 56 metre reflecting pool is the focal point of the main axis of the garden. Extensive use is made of buxus topiary including both architectural and whimsical styles. A unique collection of buxus also resides at Richmond.
Richmond Garden displays its many moods through the seasons and is open for visiting all year round.
