In the beautiful Galatea Valley nestled between the Te Urerewa National Park and Mount Tarawera is Tajo Ostrich Farm. One and half hour farm tours are offered daily with on farm accommodation available for the true farm experience. The farm restaurant serves dishes made with the ostrich egg and ostrich steak. Bookings are essential. Be prepared for fun and laughter when you visit this home of the large flightless birds. Get up close and personal with 2 meter high bird as you feed them and then see chicks hatch out of their shells. Travel the 94 hectare farm on special trailer designed for your comfort. Imagine your visit to a modern day Jurassic Park. Only 45 minutes from Rotorua on excellent roads. Perfect for all age groups.
