Milford Deep Underwater Observatory
Private Bag 50 046,
Te Anau
Your incredible journey into the depths of the Fiord begins with a 10 metre decent down a spiralling staircase into a spacious and air-conditioned viewing chamber. Here you will see stunning and unique marine life - anemones, sponges, brightly coloured fish and rare black coral.
Unlike the artificial environment of an aquarium, what you see at Milford Deep is completely natural. Because the observatory is simply part of their environment, the marine life don’t alter their behaviour. You’ll see real-life dramas unfold–courtship displays, territorial disputes, raising young and other fascinating events!
A visit to the Milford Deep Underwater Observatory can be added to any Milford Sound Red Boats cruise. Visit our website.
Te Anau does not have scheduled passenger air services.
