The Hut
State Highway 2, Mount Bruce

The Hut is a bush cabin which sleeps 5 people. It has wonderful views of the Tararua Mountain Range. The Hut is a 40 minute bush walk from State Highway 2, just north of the Mt Bruce National Wildlife Centre. It has one bedroom, toilet facilities, water and a gas burner. The National Wildlife Centre next door has embarked on an ambitious restoration project of the native bush and are releasing native birds such as kiwi, kokako and kaka into the bush - you can hear kiwi from The Hut on a clear, still, night. On the 16th of March 2008 there will be a walk to The Hut as part of Tararua Outdoor Week and also as a fundraiser for the Wairarapa Cancer Society.
