Expect to be emotionally stirred when you take part in the spiritual, personalised and highly professional experience that is Waka Toa. High on a 600 year old Maori lookout overlooking the iconic Young Nick's Head and Pacific Ocean, a group of 12 performers share their stories, customs and rituals as ancient sounds echo across Gisborne's fertile flats at dusk.
Waka Toa welcome guests in a true cross-cultural sharing and over several hours recreate the history of the site through traditional Maori techniques woven together with modern drama, music and humour. Waka Toa's uplifting message of hope, destiny, new beginnings and prospertiy to the nations ensure hardly a dry eye on the hill.
