Lochmara Lodge - Wildlife Recovery & Arts Centre
Lochmara Bay - Queen Charlotte Sound,
Picton
The Marlborough Sounds Wildlife Recovery Centre was founded in 2007 for wildlife rehabilitation, protection and enhancement.
Visitors to the Centre can take a self-guided eco-tour, learning about local plants, animals, history, geology, and our conservation projects. The endangered species breeding program enclosures are open to the public, and visitors can also spot large numbers of native birds, attracted by habitat planting and predator control.
The Centre is accessible by boat from Picton or via the Queen Charlotte Track. We offer day trips from Picton, including a short cruise on the Queen Charlotte Sound, lunch in our cafe, and an optional walk on the Queen Charlotte Track. Once discovered, never forgotten.
