Old St Paul's
34 Mulgrave Street,
Thorndon,
Wellington
Old St Paul's Consecrated in 1866, this fine example of Colonial Gothic architecture is one of Wellington's historic treasures. Constructed entirely from native timbers (rimu, kauri, matai and totora), the glowing interior is enhanced by stunning stained-glass windows. Old St Paul's is a well-loved venue for weddings and other services, concerts, recitals and many other cultural events. The church is currently hosting the exhibition A Friend in Need - a moving tribute to the US Marines, who were stationed in New Zealand during World War II, many of whom found a safe haven at St Paul's. Open daily from 10am - 5pm (closed on Christmas Day and Good Friday and for short periods during special ceremonies).
