63 specialised birds visit the Waikanae estuary scientific reserve at times, many of which can be seen in their natural habitat.
Stroll along the sand spit/river bank enjoying the magnificent scenery and the current variety of water fowl which may include caspian terns, royal spoonbills, shags, dabchicks, scaup, herons, shovelers, pukeko and many more species of birds that inhabit this wonderful area.
At the conclusion of your tour you are invited to your guides home on top of the highest sandhill with a wonderful overview of the estuary and river for refreshments and home cooking.
