Lake cruise and Mou Waho Island Nature Walk. Thirty minute cruise takes us to this nature reserve, situated in the middle of Lake Wanaka surrounded by stunning alpine vistas.
Your eco guide points out the varied native plant and birdlife including the rare Buff Weka, a very inquisitive flightless friend,(extinct on mainland NZ since 1920) on the 30 minute walk up to the island's secret - a lake on top of an island (the serene Arethusa pool).
We have 'high tea' on the summit overlooking the two lakes below with a panorama of the Southern Alps surrounding us.
Geologically unique and very photogenic. You can plant a native tree too as part of this hands on eco experience, improving the island with every visit.
