Rotorua District Garden Festival
13 Nov 2009
- 15 Nov 2009
On the weekend of the 13 - 15 November 2009, Rotorua will once again host its biennial garden festival.
With 35 gardens including rural and city gardens and lakeside and courtyard gardens to view, there will be something to excite everyone. Spring bulbs and perennials, flowering trees and shrubs including rhododendrons, rustic fences, ponds, pots and potagers, pergolas draped in roses and clematis, clipped hedges, organic vegetable gardens and orchards and immaculate lawns sweeping down to the lake edge are just some of the wonderful sights awaiting you. Many gardens have collections of rare or unusual plants, trees and shrubs while others are inspirational in their artistic design. Some are planted specifically to display NZ native flora and fauna and are peaceful havens for tui, fantail, bellbird, grey warbler and the occasional kaka. Nestled beneath Mt Tarawera and Mt Ngongotaha, and surrounded by stunning lakes, rural scenery, geysers and mud pools, the Rotorua garden festival is a truly unique event.
The Rotorua festival provides a chance for garden lovers and others to enjoy beautiful gardens while also taking in the beautiful sights and features that make Rotorua such a prime tourist destination.
