This year’s Napier programme includes a fantastic selection of films made during 2006 to 2008 including the following…. the thriller The Girl by the Lake (La ragazza del lago) winner of the Venice film festival; the romantic comedy Good Morning Heartache (Riprendimi) Anna Negri’s amusing and bittersweet drama that premiered at Sundance in 2008, featuring hot new acting talents Alba Rohrwacher and Marco Foschi, the drama The Deity (Il Divo) Jury prize winner of the Cannes Film festival 2008.
The films in this year’s festival demonstrate the rich variety of Italian cinema, including romantic comedy, thrillers, drama, comedy, dramatisations and historical drama offering something for everyone. Fifteen films will be screened over 15 days totaling 37 sessions.
Programme information is available on the festival website www.italianfilmfestival.co.nz/films.html, or programmes can be collected from the Century Cinema, 9 Herschell St Napier, and at various locations around Hawke's Bay.
This year there are links to trailers on You-tube. Most of them do not have subtitles, but they do give you a good impression of the films. There is also the ability to leave comments on films on the festival website after you have seen them during the festival, for the benefit of others.
