Rob Roy Glacier Guided Trekking. Arguably the most varied and spectacular 1 day walk in New Zealand. Rob Roy Valley has it all! From Lake Wanaka's arid shores we drive through the massive Matukituki valley through to Raspberry flat, entrance to Mt. Aspiring national Park. A World Heritage Area. We walk to the swing bridge and enter into the Alpine Rainforest and climb steadily 20 minutes into the hanging valley of Rob Roy. A gentle traverse through for 1.5hours brings us out into low alpine herb fields to our lunch spot. Beware the Alpine Parrot, Kea. A 260 metre waterfall is opposite us and we soak up the panorama of the three active faces of the glacier occasionally calving ice avalanches down to the valley floor. A memorable day.
