It comes as no surprise to local resident and General Manager of Edgewater Resort in Wanaka, Mr Leigh Stock, that Wanaka has been named as the only New Zealand location on a worldwide list of the "Top Ten Romantic Holiday Places".
The New Zealand Herald reported that Wanaka was identified in the book Dream Destinations: 100 of the World’s Best Vacations published by Life Books. The picturesque resort town, located within the spectacular Southern Alps, was featured alongside The Camargue in France, The Cinque Terre in Italy, Saint Lucia in the Caribbean, and Nappa Valley in California.
According to Leigh, "We often see guests at the resort enjoying the romance of the setting and from time to time, even share in the celebration of a successful marriage proposal!"
The location of the resort, on the shores of Lake Wanaka, combined with its tranquil setting all contribute to the relaxed and romantic atmosphere.
Edgewater Resort is also a favoured location for weddings. "We welcome guests from all over New Zealand and some international visitors for celebrations. The facilities at the resort allow for a bridal party to enjoy their own special area and stay for the night or even the weekend. It makes the occasion one to remember for all involved", adds Leigh.
