Baldwin Street Gutbuster - An event which attracts around 1000 people from all over the world to run or even skate up and down the steepest street in the world.

Dunedin Summer Festival - An annual festival celebrating our region and our lifestyle. The whole city celebrates. Activities are based around a theme week.

March

Scottish week, Dunedin - the week highlights Dunedin's strong Scottish traditions yet reflects its own style in this wonderful celebration. Daily concerts, activities and guest speakers, Highland and Scottish dancing, pipe bands, genealogy research and public dances are some of the featured events.

Bluff Oyster Festival - Food lovers come from all over the world to soak up a plethora of entertainment, gourmet delicacies and, of course truckloads of Bluff oysters. www.bluffoysterfest.co.nz

Regent 24-Hour Book Sale, Dunedin - New Zealand's largest sale of second-hand books (200,000 to 300,000 books). Continuous 24 hours of mid-winter fun, live entertainment and book bargains.

July

Cadbury Chocolate Carnival: Chocolate lovers have the opportunity to indulge in their favourite treats, with a full programme of events, including the Choc Art Awards, Jaffa Race down the world's steepest street, Chocolate Fair in the Octagon and the Cadbury Kids' Bake-off.

October/November

Otago Festival of the Arts - A two-week programme of music, theatre and dance which combines national and international acts with the very best of Otago’s local talent. www.otagofestival.co.nz

Dunedin Rhododendron Festival - Dunedin's climate and soil are particularly well suited to growing rhododendrons. During the main flowering season (September to November) the city's public and private gardens are ablaze with colour. Oamaru's Victorian Heritage Celebrations - Every year the people of the Waitaki District celebrate their history with the Victorian Heritage Celebrations. Four days of activities with a Victorian theme are planned during the month of November.
