These times are based on driving at 80 to 100 km (50 to 60 miles) per hour on open stretches, with a small allowance for traffic delays, petrol stops and refreshments.
Driving routes
The Forgotten World Highway: links the Taranaki district with the Ruapehu district. While it's only 150 kilometres long, the Forgotten World Highway is a highly memorable driving journey. Surf Highway: Also known as State Highway 45, from New Plymouth, this highway follows the coast on the western side of Mt Taranaki.
