Delegates Spoiled for Choice in Rotorua

With 344 accommodation rooms, the greatest number of rooms in one Rotorua location and seven dedicated function rooms, conference organisers have plenty of choice at Novotel Rotorua Lakeside and Hotel Ibis Rotorua.

The two properties, which are sister brands within the Accor hotel group, are centrally located with excellent on-site parking, various room types and an outlook across Lake Rotorua.

Combine these features with a professional dedicated conference coordinator and any organiser can be assured of the conference achieving its goals.

Accommodation

The range of room types appeal to conference organisers and corporate clients. "At the Novotel property there are King and Executive Suites, Lake View rooms and triple rooms while at the Ibis we can offer King Beds, Twin Rooms with two double beds and triple room options. If clients are on a budget they can opt for an entry level room type, or if they have VIP’s they can book them in a suite", says Director of Sales and Marketing, Andrea Richards.

Adventure

The hotels’ prime location, near the Rotorua Lakefront and overlooking Lake Rotorua is not only convenient but also picturesque. The lake is a focal point for various activities and favourite activities for delegates are the "Amazing Race", adventurous with jet-boating, off-roading and the luging which is synonymous with Rotorua. "The range of activities gives conference groups diversity in their programme and they can be easily adapted for team building or incentive style events", adds Andrea. "Many of the activities venues can be utilised as an off-site catered meal which adds yet another dimension."

Geothermal Relaxation

The Royal Spa and Fitness Centre is located within Novotel Rotorua Lakeside and offers delegates geothermal mineral pools, spa, sauna, plunge pools and gym facilities. However there is no better form of relaxation, after a gruelling day in a conference session, than a beauty or massage treatment, which is also on offer.

Geothermal attractions are popular with delegates, especially if they are from overseas or New Zealanders who are first time visitors to Rotorua. There are four key geothermal attractions in the region, the closest is Te Puia which also incorporates Maori arts and crafts.

Maori Culture

Rotorua has a well established reputation for its richness of Maori culture and it is no more evident that during a lively concert combined with a Hangi-style meal.

Matariki Cultural Group delivers a fascinating insight into the Maori culture. The award winning group has been performing at the Novotel Rotorua Lakeside almost every night since the hotel opened in 1996. They can be engaged to perform at private events both at the Hotel and at Matariki Hangi and Cultural Centre and will provide a traditional Powhiri (Maori Welcome) for conference delegates.

Function Rooms

The seven rooms cater for groups from 2 to 400. The larger sized rooms are able to be configured in various styles to accommodate meeting needs from theatre to the formal banquet or the larger cocktail function. "We are fortunate to have a venue that has the flexibility to provide private exhibition space and plenary for up to 400 delegates or can be reconfigured to accommodate four groups of 100 delegates for larger breakouts. There are also four smaller rooms for groups of up to 60.

The rooms are all named after famous New Zealanders such the ‘Rutherford’ after Sir Ernest Rutherford and ‘Blake’ after Sir Peter Blake. The ‘Batten’ room has a direct connection to Rotorua as it is named after the famous aviatrix, Jean Batten who was born in Rotorua.

The hotel had designed special day delegate packages, which of course are adaptable depending on client needs. "The venue we have is suitable for all types of conference and events. Day delegate packages start from $47.00 per person and accommodation rates from $99.00 per room which provide affordability and value" says Ms Richards.
