The Bachelor finds love in New Zealand

Jason Mesnick and his final three women take the trip of a lifetime to romantic Queenstown, New Zealand, as Jason’s search for true love continues on the ABC show The Bachelor. On his quest for happiness, Jason also fell in love with New Zealand.

"I’ve done a lot of traveling in my life, but New Zealand is by far the most beautiful place I’ve ever been." Jason tells TV Guide.com.

Queenstown is the romantic setting for Jason on his three one-on-one dates in Episode Seven. Located on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, overlooked by the majestic Southern Alps, Queenstown offers an environment to relax and rejuvenate, try your hand with a gold pan or a fishing rod. A wine trail will discover award winning wines from the world's most southern vineyards. Visitors can enjoy long walks through the beautiful scenery, go on a four-wheel drive trek, or lunch on a majestic steamboat.

For his first one-on-one date, Jason and his date took a helicopter ride over Lake Wakatipu to a scenic ledge, for an intimate picnic with stunning views. They then dined at the picturesque Stoneridge Estate, an atmospheric mountain lodge constructed with recycled materials including beams from an old church. As well as three beautifully furnished guest rooms at Stoneridge Lodge, Stoneridge Estate also offers a private holiday cottage, complete with cosy open fire and outdoor hot tub adjacent.

Jason Mesnick is looking for love as The Bachelor

Adventure was the focus of the second outing when Jason took his date to the world’s first commercial bungy, the AJ Hackett bungy at Kawerau Bridge. This bungy has been in operation for 20 years and is one of the most popular spots to bungy jump in New Zealand. Jason and his date bravely bungy jumped tandem style, clinging to each other during the jump. The excitement of the bungy was followed by a stress-relieving glass of local wine, and dinner at Kohara Lodge overlooking the mighty Shotover River. Kohara Lodge is an award winning stand alone house set into the hillside, just a few minutes drive from central Queenstown at picturesque Arthurs Point. Facilities include a cosy fireplace, outdoor lap pool with heated hot tub, alfresco terrace area with open fire, and putting green.

After experiencing the adrenaline rush of bungy jumping, Jason chose something more relaxing for his third one-on-one date. Jason and his date took a luxurious outing onboard Queenstown classic sailing ship, Yvalda, sailing into the sunset. The twosome then had a romantic dinner at Tatler Restaurant & Bar in central Queenstown, a local favorite. The restaurant features innovative cuisine made from locally-sourced organic ingredients, which the couple enjoyed next to a roaring fire.

Queenstown may be known for adventure activities such as bungy jumping, the Canyon Swing, white water rafting, jet boating and hang gliding; but also offers many other options for visitors. Visit award winning vineyards such as Amisfield, shop in the chic downtown Queenstown area and visit a glacier. There are many restaurants for whatever you are in the mood for; for casual dining, visit Winnebagos and for a five course meal, dine at Inspire at the Spire hotel.

Just twenty minutes out of Queenstown is the historic gold-mining settlement, Arrowtown. Arrowtown is also becoming widely renowned for its café and restaurant culture. For some great dining experiences visit Saffron, Pesto or the Postmaster’s House. Walk through the main street and visit the preserved stores, the Lakes District Museum, and the Chinese Gold Miners’ village.
