Our quaint "rustic gingerbread & clinkerbrick" cottage is situated on Mount Taranaki/Mount Egmont within Egmont National Park - surrounded by native flora & fauna. Awake to the native bird calls.
The historic Rahiri Cottage is the only surviving tollgate in any New Zealand national park and is entwined with the servicing of the northern access into the national park.
Rahiri Cottage was built in 1929 to house the park board's gatekeeper who collected a toll to the entrance into the park. This allowed the then, one way road, into the park to be gradually developed over the years.
You can now relax in the charms of yesteryear whilst soaking in the atmosphere of Rahiri and it's surrounds.
