In the Museum of TeWairoa at Rotorua's Buried Village visitors journey through time and watch the captivating tale of TeWairoa unfold. We have objects unearthed from the village which buried by the eruption of Mt Tarawera in 1886. There are also images, text and audiovisual displays which open up the enthralling history of this Victorian settlement and its association with the Pink and White Terraces. Further museum displays can be found at each of the excavated sites. They are linked by pathways and explained fully by way of display signs and guide map. One of New Zealand's original visitor attractions.
