Ophir Post Office is a small building of schist masonry with plaster quoins and window dressings, built in 1886 to serve a goldfields town. Since the 1890s it has been managed by women. It was purchased by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust in 1976 and restored, and still operates postal services. Open as a Post Office agency from 9.00-12.00 on business days only.
