Hyde Park
227 Pukeatua Road,
Maungatapere,
Whangarei
Come for a memorable walk, you are welcome with or without a dog.
Hyde Park encompasses 100 acres of nature, including 60 acres of mature ancient native bush which abounds with rocks covered in moss and lichen that hasn’t been disturbed since the Maungatapere Volcano threw them there thousands of years ago.
An end of an old lava flow is a rock cliff with an ancient Puriri tree estimated to be more than 500 year old, with a 6 meter circumference. There are also several water features, a working water wheel and two working water ram pumps.
Delightful marked trails through the mature native bush abound with native birds. There are also 20 acres of open grassy space.
