Located just 40 minutes from Auckland by ferry, Waiheke Island is an ideal place to relax and recuperate from jet lag. The island’s landscape is a picturesque blend of farmland, forest, beaches, vineyards and olive groves and it is easy to get around on foot or by bus or taxi. This itinerary combines Waiheke Island with Auckland at the beginning of a holiday to New Zealand but it can also easily be added to the end of a trip.
Day 1 Auckland: Arrive in Auckland and transfer to your hotel for 1 night. .
Day 2 To Waiheke Island: This morning take a ferry to Waiheke Island and transfer to The Boatshed for 3 nights.
Days 3 & 4 Waiheke Island: Days at leisure to explore this pretty little island, its vineyards and beaches.
Day 5 To Auckland: Return to Auckland by ferry and transfer to your hotel for 2 nights.
Day 6 Auckland: Join a full day tour of Auckland and its surrounds, learning about the city and its history from a Maori perspective.
Day 7 To Rotorua: Collect a hire car and drive south to Rotorua or up to the Coromandel Peninsula.
