If you love exploring days gone by, and feel inspired by history being made, this gem of a day trip is for you.
Take a stroll around Arrowtown - just 20 minutes drive from Queenstown's town centre -armed with a brochure featuring the history of buildings and places of significance, many dating back to the 1860s gold rush.
Pick up the map from Lakes District museum on Arrowtown's Buckingham Street, then follow the trail around the town’s character-filled streets. Highlights include the old masonic lodge, the old gaol, the recreated Chinese settlement, tale-filled graveyard and original residences.
This is a fantastic way to get a feel for this town’s illustrious heritage - you could even try your hand at gold panning!
This is fun for the whole family, and costs very little.
