Five Reasons to Visit Queenstown this Winter

Queenstown is a year round destination and during winter she becomes a Winter Wonderland. Come and see why.

Relax at the Queenstown Park Boutique Hotel, in the heart of Queenstown and enjoy our five favourite things to do in Queenstown this winter.

American Express Queenstown Winterfestival

Celebrate Queenstown’s most iconic winter event.  The four day programme is full of fun, frivolity and just a little bit of mayhem.

Join the community and visitors downtown for a spectacular show of fireworks to celebrate the opening of the event.   Break out your funky ‘70’s flares for a lunchtime disco workout or meet some of our high-country farmers who bring their four-legged pals onto the slopes at Coronet Peak for the Dog Derby.

22-25 June 2017.

Cruise the Lake on TSS Earnslaw

The ‘Lady of the Lake’ has been quietly plying the waves on Lake Wakatipu since October 1912.   Today, soak up the magnificent views on this iconic steamship as she sets course for Walter Peak High Country Farm.    Disembark and enjoy options including guided farm tour, horse trekking, barbecue lunch or evening dining, before steaming back to the handy downtown wharf in Queenstown.

Ski Under the Stars

Coronet Peak’s night skiing is available every Friday and Saturday nights, from early July until mid-September.    This year, 80 new lights have been installed, adding over 4km of trails which means there is double the accessible terrain for skiing and riding under the stars.

Ride the Gondola

From the heart of Queenstown glide up 450 meters up hill on Skyline’s Gondola to Bob’s Peak.      Don’t leave your camera behind for this trip.  The 220 degree panorama is truly spectacular.     Sightseeing, dining, downhill luge rides, nature walks and mountain bike trails await at the top of Skyline.
