Many courses are well established with attractive plantings and featuring views of rolling countryside or in some cases the Waikato River while others offer urban or coastal vistas.
And thanks to the extensive network of towns, wherever you are based there will be several courses within an easy half hour’s drive, to suit all levels of ability and highly accessible due to the reasonable fees.
For a sense of the variety on offer, try the off-the-beaten track courses of Te Kowhai and Pirongia or head to Piopio, where an experience of the farming lifestyle is thrown in free, with sheep grazing to maintain fairways. For those looking for something at the other end of the scale try St Andrews or Ngaruawahia where the Brian Perry Classic takes place each year.
Golfing doesn’t come better, whether you’re a scratch golfer or on a handicap of twenty-eight.
