Waihi Beach is a magnet for honeymooners from across the globe. Each year we meet couples from all corners of the world. Last season couples from Austria, India, UK, USA, Germany, France, Ireland, Spain, Mexico and Belguim all included Waihi Beach as part of their honeymoon with the Austrian couple actually getting married at Waihi Beach.
The attraction is the 9kms of sandy beach, beach walks and picnics coupled with lazing under an umbrella seem to be order of the day as there is as much or as little to do as you want.
Orakawa Bay is a honeymooner's dream - just a 35-minute walk to a pohutakawa tree-lined stunning bay perfect for a picnic or a lazy afternoon.
Kayaking through the glow worm caves is a popular night activity - this is done with Waimarino at McLaren Falls with couples reporting back magical times.
Swimming with the dolphins is also popular - this is done in Tauranga with couples coming back fizzing about their encounter with the friendly playful dolphins.
For those wanting some adrenalin then take a Harley ride around the Coromandel - you can hire a bike or be a pillion passenger - I have seen many get on the back of a Harley and all come back with a huge smile without exception
The best months are from November to April but we would suggest avoiding late December and January as thats when kiwi's holiday - March and April seem to have more settled weather with less people around.
