A number of popular activities attract visitors to the Kowhai Coast. Take a trip on horseback along the beautiful beaches and through surrounding forests and farmland. Hike the Waitakere Ranges, mountain bike or 4WD through the Woodhill Forest, ride a horse on Muriwai's glittering black iron-rich sands, or simply relax in hot thermal springs. Two hundred kilometres of walking and hiking tracks ensure you won't be bored.


The Hibiscus Coast, a narrow coastal strip incorporating the beautiful protruding peninsula of Whangaparaoa, boasts more than 208 hectares of reserves and golf courses. There's access to 17 safe and sandy beaches plus a multitude of sandy coves, all within easy access of local shops, restaurants, wine bars and cafes.
