Don't miss Napier's T&G Building

Any visit to Napier is not complete without photographing the iconic T&G building ...and don't forget to upload your photo onto flickr!

The iconic T&G building is perhaps the most photographed building in NZ. So don't forget to take one yourself!!  ...and also upload the image onto the Flickr group.

It's pretty easy to find, as it's right in the centre of town: on the corner of Marine Parade and Emerson Street – directly opposite the i-Site (visitor information) center.

The T&G Building was built as part of Napier’s reconstruction effort, after an earthquake destroyed the city in 1931.

Completed in 1935, the building was originally the home of Temperance General Insurance, a company that emerged during the Prohibition Era in the early 1900s. Architecturally, the  building is based on the 'stripped classical' style.

Due to its striking features and location, the Dome has become a Napier icon and one of the most photographed buildings in the country, characterized by a distinctive copper domed roof or cupola, complete with clock tower.

Recently converted into exclusive penthouse apartments for holiday rental, the Dome is now one of New Zealand's most exclusive places to stay.
