This amazing stretch of coastline northeast of Whangarei, Northland, has an outstanding reputation for pristine beaches, idyllic getaways, and summer fun.

Tutukaka Coast’s beaches are among the most spectacular in Northland, and New Zealand. National Geographic Traveler magazine rated this area as the Second Equal, Best Coastal Destination - on the Planet!

There are so beaches to choose from, each with individual character and beauty, with over 26 beaches in our stretch of coastline, you will be guaranteed to find one to yourself.

There are white sandy beaches such as Matapouri Bay, Woolley’s Bay, Whale Bay and Whangaumu Bay.

There are calm inner harbour pebble beaches such as Pacific Bay, Kowharewa Bay and Church Bay (accessible via Tutukaka Block Road).

There is the famous surf beach, Sandy Bay. And that’s only to get you started! Roads and pathways lead to many of the beaches, whilst others are accessible via the coast by climbing around the rocks at low tide.
