Whangarei in the sub-tropical north of the North Island hosts the opening match of the DHL New Zealand Lions Series 2017.
Kickoff is on 3 June at Whangarei’s Toll Stadium when the Lions play a Provincial Union XV. The rugby proud Northland region is likely to set the tone for an action-packed, fun-filled tour. Toll Stadium is also known as Okara Park and underwent a major redevelopment in time for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
Northland, is the birthplace of New Zealand and a region steeped in history and culture – being the site where Māori and Europeans came together to sign the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840.
