Operator Database FAQ

We are updating the Operator Database in 2019. Here’s everything that you need to know.


We’re making improvements to make the new Operator Database easier to use. This will create a better experience for all users, increase referral rates, and provide the industry with a platform that is fit for the future.

There will be a new look and feel but you will still be able to log in, edit business information, and create and edit listings and deals. We will be updating all of the user guides and will have additional support available when the new system goes live.

When will the the new system go live?

The new Operator Database will be up and running by the end of 2019. Regular updates will be provided as the project progresses and the final launch date is confirmed.

Will I be able to keep my listing?

Yes. Existing accounts will be taken across to the new system. You can keep using the current Operator Database as per normal.

Will I need to do anything?

All your active account information, such as listings and deals will automatically be transferred to the new system.To prepare for this (and to ensure that your information is transferred), please log into your account and check that all your information is as up to date as possible.

We are creating a more secure system. This means that you may need to update your password. We will let you know of any other changes as soon as possible.

How can I maximize the value of the platform for my business?

We carefully considered the functionality of the database to see what was working well and what could be improved to help users improve their referral rates to their business websites. 

We have talked to industry to see what is working well and what could be improved to help the industry maximize the value of the platform to their business. We found that articles deliver less than 1% of total annual referrals from newzealand.com. In contrast, business listings and deals deliver 80% of referrals.

As a result of this review, the ability to create articles will be removed. Users will be able to access current articles until the beginning of September 2019, so that they can move the content elsewhere. Articles will also be removed from newzealand.com over September 2019.
