With fresh snow falling on the peaks this week, it’s made us realise that the winter season is not far off. With this in mind, we have decided to take a look back on last year’s heli-ski season which was nothing short of epic.
Last June, we had unusually good coverage and began our season around 18th June. It only got better from there with a brilliant storm bringing endless centimetres of snow across our terrain.
August is generally the best month for skiing, and with consistent storms and snow coverage, it didn’t fail to impress. Finally we ended the season with some spring skiing in September, with champagne powder still making an appearance making for an epic end to the season.
We’re hoping for an equally magic season this winter, and looking forward to enjoying our powder playground over the next few months.
Our friends at Harris Mountains Heli-Ski run a variety of trips from Queenstown, Wanaka and Mount Cook. You can select the amount of runs that suit your ability and interests, and even get to enjoy an alpine buffet lunch atop a mountain peak!
Keep up to date with the latest conditions on our Facebook or Instagram – or head to the HMH website to learn more about the trips they offer.
