If you have limited time to spend in NZ then Northland is a MUST DO!

If you are limited for time, then look no further than the two diverse coastlines and birthplace of Maori culture - Northland offers so much in one region

So much of New Zealand\’s scenic beauty in just one easy to reach region

“Northland is a place where twin coasts become one, where two seas meet and where countless expressions of nature’s versatility almost beg for discovery”  www.northlandnz.com   The Twin Coast Discovery Highway is a circular tourist route around Northland with the Kauri Coast in the west and the Bay of Islands and Whangarei in the east. These two coastlines, together with the spiritual Cape Reinga to the north, means the Northland region alone can provide visitors with so much of the total New Zealand experience.

All this and only an easy two hour drive from Auckland

Both coasts offer much of the unspoilt natural beauty for which New Zealand is famous, but in addition, each coastline has a diverse, but complementary aspect making Northland a visitor’s paradise.

Travel Clockwise for the best scenic vistas

It is strongly recommended that you travel Northland clockwise otherwise some of the most stunning vistas on the Kauri Coast (pathway to Bay of Islands and Cape Reinga) will be missed – especially as you reach the breathtaking Hokianga Harbour scenic peak before descending into Omapere so remember to turn left at Brynderwyn. Standing in the presence of the ancient kauri trees of the Waipoua Forest will be truly humbling and awe inspiring. Tane Mahuta (Lord of the Forest) the largest kauri in the world has been growing here for 2,000 years and Te Matua Ngahere (Father of the Forest) is the oldest and widest kauri in the world and has been growing here for a mere 3,000 years! Think about it - that is when bronze aged man existed!

If you have limited time ……
Travelling the Twin Coast Discovery Highway around Northland is the perfect solution to enjoy so much of what makes a great New Zealand experience.
