About
Come on a walk with us, back in time, through the history of the Tauranga bridge area. More than 100 years ago, three families attempted to farm this land in the Waioeka Gorge, eventually giving up in their battle to tame the beautiful but unforgiving wilderness. Learn their story as we trek through this largely untouched land.
After the bridge crossing we wander up a once farmed valley which has reverted back to the wilds, crossing small streams where we may see native fish and eels, and listen to the calls of the birds. Track meanders back along the other side of the valley through ancient forest.
Free transfers from Whakatane, Opotiki & lunch can be provided.
