Oamaru's Victorian Precinct

Oamaru's Victorian Precinct is a busy hub filled with shops, galleries, cafes, bars and restaurants, museums, a brewery, a steam train, plenty of fun activities and curious Steampunk inspired attractions including a Steampunk playground!

Oamaru’s Victorian Precinct is fast gaining an international reputation as a quirky and interesting place to visit all year round. The Oamaru Harbour with its Steampunk playground and the restored Precinct buildings are tenanted by traditional and contemporary businesses. Art lovers will enjoy galleries such as Donna Demente’s extraordinary GrainStore Gallery, Oamaru’s Forrester Gallery on Thames Street and Steampunk HQ’s gallery which pushes the boundaries of our imaginations.

Every November locals and visitors put on their Victorian finery to party and dance their way through five days of Victorian Heritage Celebrations. The week concludes with the amazing Victorian Fete held annually on the third Sunday of November.
