When in Franz Josef you really need to explore the Glaciers. Franz Josef and Fox glaciers is where you can hike, helicopter, or both, these stunning formations made over thousands of years, or as Maori legend has it, from a lost lover’s tears, will have you weeping with joy. The hue, changes from turquoise to deepest blue as you hover above, or hike across them. That evening, why not chill and enjoy a well deserved drink, reminiscing on your day.
DAY 3: FRANZ JOSEF – QUEENSTOWN
Upon leaving Franz Josef prepare to be dazzled on one of most spectacular natural drives in the world. Travelling along mile after mile of rugged coastline, we highly recommend spending time through the Haast Pass where ancient rainforests, icy blue glaciers and booming waterfalls collide to create a stunning kaleidoscope of natural scenery. Before You know it you will have arrived in beautiful Queenstown – the adrenaline capital of New Zealand.
DAY 4: QUEENSTOWN FREE DAY
Your itinerary would not be complete without a free day in Queenstown where action awaits. Go off-piste and make up your own itinerary. Today we recommend taking things down a gear, visiting historic Arrowtown en-route to the laid-back lakeside vibes of Wanaka. Why not have a go at water-skiing, kayaking or wakeboarding. Land lovers can hike it, or bike it, on one of many waterside trails. On your way back to Queenstown , stop in at Cardona, where you can sink a beer at one of New Zealand’s oldest pubs before chilling or hitting the nightlife in Queenstown.
